The Black and Decker PH5551 is a 550W telescopic electric pole hedge trimmer designed to tackle tall hedges with reach and precision that a standard handheld trimmer simply cannot match. The extendable pole reaches up to 2.3 metres in usable length, making it well suited to cutting the tops of high hedges without the need for steps or a ladder. The 180° pivoting head locks into five distinct positions, giving you the flexibility to work at a variety of angles — whether trimming flat hedge tops or shaping difficult-to-reach sections from ground level. Cutting performance is delivered through 510mm dual action blades with a diamond ground edge, producing cleaner cuts with reduced vibration compared to single action alternatives. At 1,600 blade strokes per minute with a blade gap of 22mm, the PH5551 is capable of handling established hedges with reasonable branch thickness. A blade brake engaging in under one second adds a useful safety margin when repositioning between cuts. The ergonomic design balances the tool’s 4.1kg weight along the pole, and the soft-grip handle helps maintain a secure hold during extended use. A cable clip keeps the power cable managed and out of the way during operation.
